Romi moved from Tel Aviv to New York City in 1999, to pursue a product design degree. After graduating from Parsons, ceramic design had been a side project for several years, until finally in 2008 Romi started her own studio. Romi’s products are now sold by retailers across the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
What makes Romi Ceramics different: Romi uses porcelain slip-casting exclusively to make and finish each piece by hand, at her New York studio. To create her signature bold colors and brushstroke patterns, Romi mixes the porcelain with stains. Many of Romi’s designs are inspired by – and typically modeled in – folded paper.
